Anti-Plagiarism Policy

Anti-Plagiarism Policy – Horizonte Científico International Journal (HCIJ)

Horizonte Científico International Journal (HCIJ), in its semiannual 2023 edition, guarantees that all published academic articles are original, unpublished, and not under review—in whole or in part—by any other journal or editorial process. This policy applies to both full manuscripts and any substantial portions thereof.

To ensure compliance, HCIJ employs advanced similarity detection tools, including:

  • Crossref Similarity Check (iThenticate)

  • Turnitin

  • Plag.es

Additionally, the editorial team may use complementary systems such as DupliChecker, Plagium, or Copyscape, when deemed appropriate.

Similarity Review and Editorial Procedure

All manuscripts undergo similarity checking prior to peer review. If the similarity report exceeds 20%, the Editorial Committee will contact the corresponding author by email, attaching:

  • The detailed technical similarity report

  • A preliminary editorial assessment highlighting the overlapping sections

This process is intended to provide authors with an opportunity to respond, clarify, or revise the flagged content, ensuring a fair and transparent evaluation.

If plagiarism or self-plagiarism is confirmed—whether partial or total—the manuscript will be immediately and definitively rejected.

Pre-Submission Recommendation

HCIJ strongly encourages authors to use plagiarism detection tools (free or institutional) prior to formal submission, as a best practice to verify the originality of their manuscripts and reduce unintended overlaps.
